UNICEF launches public appeal for aid for 8 million children affected by the Myanmar cyclone
Celebrities lend their support to UNICEF in a campaign to raise funds for the Myanmar cyclone emergency. Among those speaking out are Ben Stiller, Nicole Ritchie, Joel Madden and Tea Leoni.
To meet the urgent needs of children and families affected by the cyclone last weekend in Myanmar, UNICEF has issued an emergency appeal for $8.2 million. The initial funding request is part of an interagency appeal prepared UNICEF’s UN partners.
You can watch Tea's PSA here. This is the transcription:
Tea Leoni:
“As you know, a killer cyclone has struck Myanmar, and 8 million children need medicine, food, clean water and shelter. UNICEF has been in Myanmar for 60 years and is pre-positioned and delivering emergency supplies right now. Because UNICEF is there, children’s lives can be saved. But they need our help. Please, let’s all stop what we’re doing for a few moments and go to UNICEF.USA.ORG to make a donation today. Thank you.”
